DCTY Micro Gallery in cooperation with Cups & Berry presents the monthly spotlight starting this July. This project aims to give local artists the spotlight to showcase some of their works at Cups & Berry. The artist is given a space and could hang a maximum of four works which will be exhibited until the last day of each month.
This July, DCTY brings the work of Wenn Licuanan to the spotlight. Wenn is a full-time artist from Bolinao, Pangasinan. His works are predominantly characterized by a pixelated style of painting which is mostly influenced by Chuck Close.

Close's influence on Wenn's works inspires him to study and master his craft until he develops his signature pixelated style of painting. Other artists that influenced his works are those of DEB WEIERS and JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT in their work FUNKY ART.

Currently, most of his work centers on head and face figures. Strikingly, these figures elicit different emotions and connect deeply with the audience. These works are considered yielding towards abstract expressionism where Wenn plays with strokes and colors to form new meaning and create a stronger message.
Wenn is a seasoned painter and has exhibited his works in Pangasinan, Baguio and NCR. Currently, his work is part of a group exhibition "Sampayan" of the Pinto Arts Museum in Rizal.

Wenn has exhibited under the DCTY Micro Gallery in its past two group exhibits: "Betel ya Panangaro" and "Maia," respectively. Catch his works exhibited at Cups and Berry until July 31, 2023.
